Choral Practice Resource Database
This is a project I developed to help choral practitioners access professional development resources to aid in the rehearsal and performance of musc music not always taught in standard choral conducting programs and texts. Whether it's a biography of a composer from a group underrepresented in the western choral tradition, or a genre or work from outside this tradition, many practitioners are interested in performing music from outside their education, but lack the resources to gain the necessary understanding of the cultural and historical context of a work or style so as to respect and honor all practices that we engage in. Of course, this is best paired with firsthand communication with a culture bearer from the tradition. This database provides a way to search for resources that will help with language, performance practice, programming practices, rehearsal practices, and inclusivity work.
How to Search:
1) Type a search term in the Open Search OR a choose general category from the Topic Search . Only exact search terms or phrases on the Open Search will be returned.
2) If you use the dropdown menu, you can filter the results further by using Control-F, or the "Find" featuer in your browser. For example, chose Language Resources, and then search the results for "Korean."
How to Suggest Additions to the database:
Please suggest additions using this form. Provide as much information as you have available and thank you!
